eSports is a safe and inclusive classroom that uses video games such as League of Legends to deliver instruction. Students engage in project based learning by identifying problems in their community and use the engineering design process to solve them. In addition to the design process, the class introduces students to the multi billion dollar global phenomenon known as eSports by engaging in different assignments, activities and projects. Students explore the industries and many career opportunities directly related to eSports through financial and career planning. Students learn the connection between high level gaming performance and physical fitness/nutrition by engaging in fitness logs and projects that help with reaction time and hand eye coordination through the use of eskrima. Students cover strategy through the statistical analysis of their game performance. Students additionally learn how stress management and emotional control affect their performance and health. In addition to the different projects and activities, students inherently learn important soft skills such as responsibility, communication, cooperation, sportsmanship and working toward a common goal.
