The College Board AP Program offers college-level introductory courses and exams that students take while in high school. Qualifying scores on the end of course AP Exams could earn you college credit and/or placement at nearly all colleges and universities in the United States (and even some international schools as well!).
Earn College Credit - your AP score could earn you college credits. Search AP credit policies on College Board's search tool.
Earn Advanced Placement - your AP score could let you skip introductory courses in college
Develop College Skills - time management, critical thinking, scholarly writing - AP courses help you hone the skills you'll need in college and career
Save Money and Time - earning credit or placement could open up time in your college schedule or even let you graduate early
Stand Out to Colleges - "AP" on your high school transcript shows colleges you've tackled college-level work
Get a Head Start - be better prepared for college by getting familiar with college-level work and boosting your confidence by tackling it
Discover Your Passion - Studying a subject in depth could give you new insights and even put you on the path to a career.

Applicants must:
Be a current AP student and enroll in AP course(s) next school year
Exemplify the Communication Employability Skill
Attend one lunch meeting & one after school meeting per month
Attend training sessions for AP Ambassadors

Attend the AP session on Parent Night on November 1, 2024 (optional, highly recommended!)
Read through the JCHS AP Agreement Packet and complete the JCHS AP Agreement Form.

Decide which AP classes you want to take & select them on your JCHS Registration Google Form.
Talk with your parents, teachers and/or counselors regarding your options and choices
Consider college goals and career interests
Pay attention to course prerequisites and grade level restrictions
Submit a HARD COPY of your completed JCHS AP Agreement form to any current AP Teacher, Mrs. Katagiri-Hoshino in D111, or Mrs. Tuifua in T123 by December 6 for SY25-26.
The Advanced Placement (AP) Program of Study at JCHS provides students the opportunity to take advanced placement coursework with the opportunity to earn college credits while in high school. It sets students on the path to qualify for the DOE Academic Honors Recognition Diploma.
The AP Program of Study provides flexibility as students have the opportunity to choose the AP courses and content areas they focus on while developing college-ready academic skills.
