3. I noticed that it says all participants must attend all PLC dates and times. Some of the dates and times overlap with each other. Or are we supposed to pick which ones we want to attend?
Please select one PLC out of the list of PLCs (ex. Special Education or Trauma-Informed) and attend all of the respective PLC dates and times listed.
4. Are these PLCs for PD credit?
The PLCs are not for PD credit but participation in the PLCs will be documented with a certificate upon completion showing your professionalism and entered into the PDE3 system for evidence of non-reclassification PD hours. The Multilingual Learner PLC will satisfy an equivalent of 18 non-credit seat hours towards the Sheltered Instruction requirement, if all PLC dates and times are attended/participated in.
5. Will this training be in person or a virtual online training? Also, are there any fees needed to register for this training?
This is a virtual online training opportunity. There are no fees to register for this training, as it is funded by our generous sponsor Matson.
6. Is there a stipend, if so what are the details on that?
These PLCs are being sponsored by the Hawaii Teacher Induction Center and Matson, so they will be free of charge to teachers and you will be provided supplemental resource materials.
While the Hawaii Teacher Induction Center is not providing stipends for participating in this PLC opportunity, you may check with your administrator or complex area Induction Program Coordinator to see if they might provide a stipend.
7. Is there a wait list for participants that are interested in more than one session?
PLC facilitators will create their own wait list in the event that someone drops out prior to the start of the PLC. You will be informed via your summer contact information of availability.
