Each year Wood Hill's 7th grade students travel to The Leadership School at Kieve Wavus on Damariscotta Lake in Nobleboro, Maine to build healthier, stronger and more socially-emotionally competent relationships. Our visit to Camp Kieve was unable to happen last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so instead staff came to us. On Tuesday, Sept. 7, the SEEK Kickoff launched this year's program and each day students will continue with the experiential approach to social-emotional learning building self management, self awareness, relationship skills, social awareness and responsible decision-making through this week.
As Principal Patrick Bucco told parents, "Our number one priority is to ensure your child feels connected and we are keeping social and emotional needs at the forefront. We believe the SEEK (Social Emotional Event Kickoff) will lay the groundwork to creating those connections and support systems."
