What is Home-Based Learning (HBL)?
Home-Based Learning (HBL) allows students to learn from home, instead of going to school to learn with teachers and peers. It is also known as remote learning and it can take various forms. It may require our students to go online to access the learning materials and to interact virtually in real time with their teachers. Students may also be directed to sites including the Student Learning Space, Google Classroom and other sites which both teachers and students are mutually familiar with. HBL can also involve other learning tasks that do not require students to go online. This includes the use of textbooks, workbooks, worksheets and other hardcopy materials provided by teachers.
Why Home-Based Learning?
From 8 April 2020, all national schools will implement full HBL. This is part of our national 'circuit breaker' strategy to manage the spread of the Coronavirus disease. Full HBL is projected to end on 4 May 2020.
In the next Phase of HBL 2 Jun to 26 Jun), students will alternate between learning in school and at home. Sec 1 & 2 students will have their lessons in school on odd weeks and HBL on even weeks. Sec 3 students will have thier lessons in school on even weeks and HBL on odd weeks. Graduating classes will have lessons in school for both weeks.
What are the expectations of students on HBL day?
JV-nites are expected to:
Log onto JVS HBL google site and check-in your attendance by 7.30 am for teachers’ instructions

Taking Care of our Eyes
Eye Care
Dearest JVnites,
I know that all of us are excited with the HBL work assignments that your teachers have been planning for you that you may have forgotten to take care of your health. Our vision is very important to us. With the daily HBL work off and online, we might forget to rest our eyes. Hence, I have placed two links in this webpage for us to exercise and rest our eyes as well. Please enjoy yourself with the workouts whilst resting your eyes. It could be looking at the greenery like the trees outside your flats for every 30-45 minutes on screen time. Or even following other eye exercises or workouts that you are comfortable with. Remember, your vision and well-being is important amidst this Covid19 period. Stay Safe and Stay Healthy!
