A note from the leadership team

It has been a busy few weeks at Jupiter, and last Friday I was privileged to be able to support the school with its 10-year anniversary colour run. Thank you to all those parents and carers who came along to watch, and I know that the pupils (and staff!) really enjoyed the afternoon of celebrations. It is not often we get such opportunities for the whole-school to participate in, and I know from talking with the children this week that it is certainly going to be one of their memorable experiences that remains with them for their time at Jupiter. My thanks to Mrs. Waggeh and the team at Jupiter for ensuring that the afternoon ran as smoothly as it could, and also to the Trust central services team who helped us to co-ordinate these across many of our schools and provide us with the resources to do so.

Yesterday was our whole-school transition day, and whilst our Year Six pupils visited their new secondary schools, pupils in Reception to Year Five spent the day with their new class teachers for September. I was also fortunate enough to meet many of the new pupils joining Jupiter in September in Reception, and some of their parents and carers yesterday. It was fantastic to walk around the school during the day and see our pupils so engaged and excited for their new year groups and classes, and the anticipation of the new challenges and opportunities that await them when they come back in September. Just as a reminder, we have one further transition afternoon next Thursday 17 July.

Whilst Mrs. Armstrong is still away from Jupiter, it has been great to meet and talk to some of you at the start or end of the school day. Please do feel free to come and say hello if you see me around the school.

As we head into the final weeks of the term, there is still much to look forward to including the Year Six production next week. Have a great weekend, enjoy the sun - but please do take care of yourselves with the very high temperatures. More information about this below in the newsletter.

Exercise books coming home

Children will be bringing home their exercise books from this academic year on Tuesday 22 July. Children will need to bring in a bag (ideally a plastic or paper bag) that they can carry all their books and work home in on that day.

Please send your child in with a large carrier bag either on Monday 21 or Tuesday 22 July so that they can bring home all their work from this academic year.

Friends of Jupiter Class Tea Towels

We are pleased to announce that all year groups Class Tea Towels will be sent for printing.

On Monday, we will be sending out links for payment.

Each tea towel costs £6, and you are welcome to purchase more than one.

Please ensure all payments are completed by Monday 21 July.

Year Six parents will be notified via email In September when their tea towels are ready for collection.

Here is an example of one of the Reception Tea Towels for your reference. All class Tea Towels will resemble the example.

Forest School

As part of our Forest School sessions, we offer the pupils the opportunity to have a small, controlled fire. This has not been possible this half term due to the hot weather which has left the ground very dry. In line with our risk assessment, we have made the decision to postpone any fires until after the summer holiday. Any classes who have missed their 'fire session' in Forest Schools, we will ensure this is moved to their next block of lessons next academic year. The Year Six evening will have other activities planned to make it a memorable experience for our leavers.

Chewing gum and sweets

We kindly remind parents and carers that pupils are not allowed to bring sweets or chewing gum into school. This is to support healthy eating habits and to ensure the safety and cleanliness of our school environment.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us promote a healthy and focused learning space for all children.

Heat alert

The UK Health Security Agency have again advised that there is an yellow health alert across the whole of the East of England which continues until Tuesday 15 July. The temperatures are likely to continue to be very high, and a reminder to ensure your child has a water bottle at school which they can refill during the day, brings a hat to wear when outside, and has sun-cream applied before school.

Pupils can continue to wear PE kit up until Tuesday, and unless you hear from us otherwise, please continue revert to normal school uniform from Wednesday 16 July.

If your child does bring sun-cream into school to apply themselves during the day if you think this may be needed, please ensure that your child brings this in a bottle clearly named with their name and class. We will ensure that we risk assess whether pupils should be out at break or lunchtime, depending on the heat and conditions, and if necessary may choose to keep pupils inside or offer areas of shade only to use. We will of course ensure that pupils stay hydrated and limit physical activity in the high temperatures.
