School will be open tomorrow, Wednesday 1/15

Hello Julian families,

Mr. Pierce here with a school/weather update: In reviewing forecasts and consulting with SDG&E, although it will be windy tomorrow, it will not impact school.

SDG&E implemented a public safety power shutoff in much of Julian. However, winds are forecast to be similar to today, and are not strong enough to impact transportation. With the underground transmission lines powering main street and a generator as a backup, the school will have power. Even your home has lost power, students will still be welcome at school tomorrow, Wednesday the 15th.

If wind conditions throughout the day impact our after school program, we’ll send additional updates. Thankfully, winds are set to calm tomorrow afternoon and evening, and SDG&E has indicated that power should be restored to the broader community sometime Thursday. Thanks for your continued support and understanding, and we’ll see your student in class tomorrow.

Sunday Message 1/12/2025

Hello Julian families! Mr. Pierce here with your Sunday message. Coming back from a windy week, we’ve got an eventful week planned. This Friday, January 17th both the elementary and the Junior High will have awards ceremonies.

·       1st – 3rd grade awards: 10:20 am

·       4th – 5th grade awards: 11:20 am

·       Junior High: 1:00 pm

Last week's Junior Formal Dance has been rescheduled, and will be held February 7th.

We want to express our appreciation for our families' understanding during the events of last week - we understand the impact of parents and students when school is cancelled. In consulting with SDG&E, although Santa Ana conditions continue, with another peak on Tuesday, conditions are forecast to be milder than last week, and we don't anticipate it impacting either transportation or power at this time - we expect a normal school week this week.

I hope you and your family had are well, and we’ll see your student in class tomorrow.
