At the end of December, we were told that JSTEM Academy would be moving from the home we have known for 10 years. Due to the move, there were limitations to what we could do. We were unable to order any type of cabinets or furniture due to the expense of movers and the lack of room at our new campus. We had to shift gears from our care cabinet and the painting of the courtyard. We put our heads together and found ways that we could impact our school, but also leave our mark within the walls.
We believe our top achievements are bringing the school community, to include students and faculty, together to celebrate our amazing campus.
To kick off the school year, we helped organize the first dance. It was one of the most successful dances. It was amazing to see 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students thoroughly enjoying themselves.
We loved organizing and holding the first homecoming banner-making event. We also loved decorating the courtyard.
We also brought Student Council, FLL Robotics, FTC Robotics, Cheerleaders, the library staff, athletics, and Girls Build together to paint directional arrows in the halls. Every organization did such a great job creating inspiring sayings. Our arrows will hold our memories long after we have gone.
We didn't just want to have fun, we wanted to help students. Instead of the care cabinet, we had to downsize to items our teachers could keep in their classrooms. We created care bags for our female students. They include feminine products, wipes, hand sanitizer, and an inspirational card. Don't forget a piece of chocolate because we all need chocolate when we are struggling with female issues. Each teacher at JSTEM was given the bags for the needs of their students.
We also wanted to do something special for the teachers, because let's face it, teaching is tough. We helped the Sunshine committee with the annual hot cocoa bar and we created a Valentine's candy bar.
