Respect…
Yourself Your classmates. Your school community.
Arrive On Time & Arrive Prepared!
Class starts when the bell rings! Be in your seat at the start of class. (If you arrive late to class, you will receive a verbal warning for the first 2 late arrivals; after 3 late arrivals, a teacher detention will be given for each subsequent late arrival.)
Technology (Phones, Headphones, Computers, etc.)
Use your Chromebook as required for class activities only.
Cell phones and headphones (including AirPods) are not permitted in class.
If you have a cell phone, you will place it in the class’ cell phone storage area at the start of class. You will collect your cell phone when you are dismissed at the end of class.
If you use a cell phone or headphones (including AirPods) during class time, the teacher will confiscate the technology until the end of class. If this occurs more than one time, the technology will be given to the building principal until the end of the school day.
The only exception to this rule will be when the teacher gives explicit permission to use headphones or a cell phone to engage with class content (such as to watch a video or listen to a podcast). When this will be a part of class-time activities, the teacher will notify the class on the class day before these materials are needed.
Cell phones and headphones (including AirPods) may not be taken out of the classroom when you go to the restroom or water fountain.
Leaving the Classroom (Hall Passes)
If you need to leave the room during class to get a drink of water, use the restroom, or go to the nurse (etc.), you will need to 1) ask permission to leave, and 2) write your name, destination, and the time on the sign out sheet. When you return to the classroom, you will 3) sign back in on the sheet.
Note: In general, students will not be permitted to leave the room during the first 5 minutes and last 5 minutes of class, or during direct instruction (for example, in the middle of a demonstration or min-lecture).
Food and Drink
You may have a water bottle in class.
No food or other beverages are allowed in class.
Late Assignments
Homework and in-class assignments that are submitted 1 day late will be eligible for a maximum of 60% credit. Homework will not be accepted more than one day late for credit.
Essays and projects that are submitted late will lose 10% credit for each day that the assignment is late.
Essays and projects will not be accepted more than 3 days late.
If you are concerned about completing an assignment on time, speak to your teacher before the due date.
Academic Honesty
In accordance with school policy, plagiarism and cheating will be reported to parents and the principal’s office, and you will receive a ‘0’ on the assignment. See the attached Social Studies Academic Honor Code for more information about academic honesty, including use of permitted resources and crediting sources.
