The Watsons Go To Birmingham - 1963

This historical fiction novel takes the reader into the world of ten-year-old Kenny and his family, the Weird Watsons, of Flint, Michigan.  In the family, there's Momma, Dad, little sister Joey, Kenny, and thirteen-year-old "juvenile delinquent" Byron.  When the family decides to take a trip to visit Grandma Sands, Dad comes home with an amazing surprise for the car trip.  Then the Watsons head South to Birmingham, Alabama, toward one of the darkest moments in America's history.
