Special Education Teacher — J. Paul Taylor Academy (JPTA)

JPTA (grades K-8), a state-authorized Title I charter school, seeks a Special Education Teacher committed to inclusive instruction and our mission-distinct pillars: Project-Based Learning (PBL), Conversational Spanish, and Healthy Living. The ideal candidate leads strong IEP practices while ensuring access to rigorous, interdisciplinary, language-rich, and wellness-centered learning.
Required
Valid New Mexico Special Education Teaching License (or eligible prior to start)
Elementary and/or middle school teaching experience
Expertise in IEP development, compliance, and implementation
Knowledge of intensive (Tier III) interventions and progress monitoring
Strong organization, documentation, and family communication Preferred
3+ years successful SPED teaching or case management
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
NM IEP coordination/case-manager experience
Technology proficiency for IEP and progress-monitoring systems
Demonstrated leadership and collaboration
Key Duties
Lead IEP cycle + service documentation
Design and adapt PBL demonstrations of learning
Support dialogue-driven Spanish fluency reinforcement
Embed healthy routines, SEL regulation, and executive-function supports
Collaborate with teachers, families, and community partners
