Costumes-

All costumes will be fit in class by our administrative staff and/or instructors.  Minor alterations will be taken care of by the studio at no additional cost.  You will receive your costume base and rental piece ready to wear in a zippered garment bag. Once the costume has been sent home, you are responsible for the loss of any costume pieces. Replacement costs will apply.

Please keep it in a safe spot and do not wear it for dress-up or other purposes until after all performances are complete!

All female dancers are required to wear a nude leotard underneath their costume to help with changing.

Shoes & Tights

Tights can be purchased through Joy of Dance or through any online/local retailer. Please make sure that the dancer's tights for performances are clean and free of any rips/holes. To purchase tights through Joy of Dance, please fill out the following form. https://forms.gle/HLNpbi9rmFviTAiC8

-Shoes: Please make sure your dancer's name is in their shoes. Shoe requirements for each class are listed below.

Hair

Female: Please refer to the "Recital Costume Sheet" linked above!

Males: Styled as usual.

Make sure all hair ties match the color of your hair- brown, black, or yellow. Older dancers need to check each other’s wrists for stray hairbands before performances!

Makeup

For our first-year parents- you are probably thinking, "Makeup?! Why does my child need to wear makeup?" We're so glad you asked! Dancers wear make-up on stage to enhance their facial features, which can be washed out under the harsh stage lights.  Younger dancers just need a little bit of light makeup applied to counteract the stage lights. A little eye shadow, mascara, blush, and pink lipstick will help your dancer shine even more on stage! It does help to practice ahead of time if you think it might bother him or her.

If you are unsure of how to apply stage makeup, the website link below has a helpful step-by-step guide on how to apply stage makeup for dancers. Dancers should use a natural colored eyeshadow palette in browns or greys. Younger dancers should wear pink lipstick while older dancers should wear red lipstick. Older dancers should also wear fake eyelashes. The link below has a step-by-step guide to help you if needed.
