My name is Linsey Unnerstall, and I'm thrilled to be your child's math teacher this school year! It's a true privilege to be part of their learning journey, and I look forward to getting to know both you and your child.
I grew up on North Padre Island in Corpus Christi, where I spent my time either at the beach or helping out in my mom's classroom. Those early experiences sparked my passion for education. I then pursued my degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on math at Texas A&M University in College Station.
After graduating, I taught for four years in Burleson ISD before moving to Pilot Point. I then spent six wonderful years teaching for Frisco ISD Wherever I have taught, I have been blessed with the best teachers, admin students, and parents.
My husband and I just moved to this area at the end of May, and we're already loving the community! We share our home with our three dogs—Scout, Bubba, and Merle Haggard—and our cat, Captain. When I'm not teaching, you can find me reading, watching movies, cooking, or spending time with friends and family.
I'm incredibly excited about the upcoming school year and can't wait to create a positive and engaging learning environment where every student can thrive. I'm truly thrilled about making this a great year for everyone!
Specials: Your student will have PE, Music, or Computer during Specials time. I will be posting the Specials schedule, so keep an eye out for that!
Important Note: Your child will need gym shoes on Friday.
Class Dojo: As a campus, we use Class Dojo to communicate with families and showcase the learning that is taking place in the classroom. Your student will be added to my Class Dojo class very soon, so keep an eye out!
Behavior: All behavior will be documented on our class clipboard. We document all behavior, especially excellent behavior! Students will receive a warning mark for continued inappropriate behavior. Any marks after this will have consequences, such as time off of recess. Consequences will increase with further behavior. This will be reflected every day on your student’s Caddo Communicator.
Grading Procedures: Your student will receive two grades per week in math.
Absent Work: If your student will be out for a prolonged period of time, contact me and we can have take-home work sent to the office for you. They will have the amount of time they are absent to make up the work.
I will send a math weekly update via email or dojo, but you may refer to the link below to view the year at a glance.
