What is CTE?
CTE stands for Career and Technical Education. CTE classes offer students the opportunity to learn technical skills and develop them in a classroom setting. CTE classes aim, in part, to help students find a passion for a career they'll love! Graduation from any public Utah high school requires that students complete 1.0 credit of CTE classes at some point between their sophomore and senior years.
What are Pathways?
Career Pathways show students a direct connection between doing well in high school and being able to transition smoothly to postsecondary opportunities when they graduate. Students who focus on a Career Pathway acquire the skills necessary for entry into the workforce, often with high potential for rapid financial growth, increased levels of responsibility, and a high degree of personal satisfaction.
Utah Career Pathways align with, and are categorized by, the National Career Clusters. Each Pathway culminates in an industry recognized by a credential of value. The National CTE Career Clusters are:
Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources
Architecture & Construction
Arts, Audio/Visual Technology & Communications
Business, Finance & Marketing
Computer Science & Information Technology
