Welcome to the Mountain Ridge Orchestras!

We have a thriving orchestra program here at Mountain Ridge High School. Whether you have been playing for most of your life or you just want to start an instrument, we have a place for you!

String Orchestra:

String Orchestra is a non-audition group geared mainly towards sophomores and students who have been playing 1-2 years. We focus a lot on refining your technique, learning new techniques like shifting and vibrato, and learning ensemble skills.

If you want to start orchestra as a beginner, String Orchestra is the group you should sign up for. While it's not a beginning class, we do have beginners join us almost every year, and most of them are very successful and catch up quickly.

Concert Orchestra:

Concert Orchestra is an audition-only group that includes sophomores, juniors, and seniors. This group focuses a lot on technical development as well, but we play more challenging music and spend more time developing our ensemble skills.

Chamber Orchestra:

Chamber Orchestra is our top level group here at Mountain Ridge. It is an audition-only group and is only open to juniors and seniors. Students in Chamber Orchestra are held to a higher standard than the other orchestras. We perform more and at a higher level, which means students must be willing to put in extra time practicing on their own and must commit to attend extra performances.

If you would like to set up an audition time, please contact Ms. Thorup at meagan.thorup@jordandistrict.org. See the audition page for more information about the audition requirements.
