Dr. Kelly Patrick is Director of the University of Utah Reading Clinic (UURC) in the College of Education. She has a B.A. in International Studies from the University of Oregon Honor's College, a Master of Education and Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of Utah. Kelly has been a high school special education teacher, an elementary school Achievement Coach, as well as an instructor for the University of Utah and the Westminster College. Her scholarly interests relate to spelling and morphology research, with publications in Assessment for Effective Intervention, Reading Research Quarterly, Journal of Research in Reading as well as presenting and consulting at international and national conferences and schools.
Kim Lloyd is the Director of Special Education for Jordan School District. She has a B.S in elementary and a Master of Special Education from University of Nevada, Las Vegas and a Master in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Utah. Kim has taught 1st, 2nd & 5th grades as a general education classroom teacher and 6th & 7th grade special education teacher as a co-teaching sped teacher and an EBD unit sped teacher. She has been a secondary assistant principal and an elementary principal. She also serves as an adjunct faculty with SUU.
Dr. Brian King has spent more delightful years in Jordan School District than he can remember. During his time in the district, he has worked as a school psychologist, behavior specialist, principal, and district administrator. He is currently the Assistant Director of Special Education.
Dr. Mike Trimmell is a Jordan School District administrator in the Special Education Department. He has a B.S. in Cell Biology for California State University, Fullerton, a Master of Education from California Polytechnic University, Pomona, and a Doctorate of Education from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). Mike has been a middle school biology and chemistry teacher, a middle school assistant principal, and an elementary school principal. He also serves as adjunct faculty at CSULB where he was awarded the Dean's Award for Outstanding Part-Time Faculty in 2019.
Brenda Cruz serves as a teacher specialist at Jordan School District and is a nationally certified vocational rehabilitation counselor. With a commitment to advocating for individuals with disabilities, she brings 20 years of experience to her role. Her expertise spans across various areas such as post-high transition, education, employment, and accessibility. Brenda has worked collaboratively with various agencies to advocate for policy changes, raise awareness, and facilitate conversations aimed at removing barriers faced by individuals with disabilities. Through partnerships with multiple organizations, she has presented at numerous conferences and workshops, actively engaging the community to support the rights of individuals with disabilities and drive positive change.
Heike Klenk is a Special Education Teacher Specialist for elementary schools in Jordan School District. With a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from the University of Utah. She recently received an ESL endorsement, from Southern Utah University. Heike has 17 years of teaching experience in an elementary resource setting.
Jen Birrell is a Special Education Teacher Specialist supporting teachers in Elementary schools. She has two Masters - Utah State University in Instructional Leadership and Walden University in Special Education. She recieved her Bachelors Degree from the University of Utah in Special Education with a severe endorsment. Jen has 21 years of classroom experience, her first 9 years in the classroom was working in transiton with adults 18-22. Her last 12 years were in elementarty schools.
Liz Miller is a Special Education Teacher Specialist for elementary schools in Jordan School District. She has a Bachelor's Degree with a dual major in Elementary Education and Special Education, an ESL endorsement, and a Master's Degree in Education from Southern Utah University. Liz has 21 years of teaching experience in both general education and special education settings. In her free time, she likes reading, camping, and eating chocolate.
Renee Sass is a Special Education Teacher Specialist support Curriculum and Instruction in Jordan School District. She has two Bachelors - Utah State University in Special Educaiton K-12 with ESL Endorsement and HQ in Language Arts and Math and Weber State University in Computer Information Systems. She earned her Masters from Southern Utah University with an Adminstrative/Leadership Endorsement. Renee has 19 years experience teaching resource with 12 years in middle school and 5 years in high school setting.
Carollee Tautkus is a Special Education Teacher Specialist supporting teachers in elementary schools. She has a Masters Degree from Utah State University in Special Education. She recieved a dual Bachelors Degree from Brigham Young University in Psychology and Education. Carollee has 26 years of classroom experience. Her favorite has always been teaching elementary math! She worked for Granite School district for 4 years. The rest of her educational career has been in the Jordan School District.
Mikaylee Krebs is a Special Education Teacher Specialist for secondary schools in Jordan School District. She has a Bachelors in Special Education K-12 with a Severe and ESL endorsement from Brigham Young University-Idaho. She has a Masters in Communication and Leadership with an emphasis in teaching communication from Gonzaga University. Mikaylee has taught in Special Education since 2016 and as an adjunct professor in communications at BYU-Idaho and SLCC since 2018.
Dr. Cheri Wild Blue serves as the assistive technology specialist in Jordan School District (JSD). She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in speech-language pathology from Loma Linda University, and a Ph.D. in special education from the University of Utah. Prior to serving at JSD, Cheri worked as a public school speech-language pathologist in California and New Mexico for ten years, where she supported students in preschool, elementary, secondary, and transition programs. She has also served as adjunct faculty in the Department of Special Education at the University of Utah since 2019.
Ashley Calhoun is a Special Education Teacher Specialist and the Transition Specialist for secondary schools In Jordan School District. She has a B.S. with a dual major in General Education and Special Education; and holds endorsements in Mild/Moderate, Severe and ESL. Ashley has a M.S in Administration and Supervision from Arizona State University. Ashley has taught for 19 years in special education resource and self-contained classrooms varying in grade levels from preschool to high school. For 15 years, she has served as an adjunct Faculty member at Grand Canyon University.
Elizabeth Cave is an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher Specialist for the Early Intervention Program that serves the Jordan & Canyons School Districts. She has a Bachelors' in Special Education with a minor in Child Development/Early Childhood from New Mexico State University as well as a Masters in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Colorado. Elizabeth joined Jordan District in 2016 and has worked as a resource teacher, early interventions and now a specialist. She has over 23 years of certified teaching experience in preschool/early intervention as well as a couple of years with "big kids", plus time as a classroom assistant.
