Mission:The mission of the Hidden Valley Middle School Library is to cultivate authentic opportunities for students to develop into discerning thinkers, lifelong learners, information entrepreneurs, digital consumers and enthusiastic readers, accomplished by:
Providing a wide range of quality, relevant information resources in both print and non-print formats.
Instructing and guiding students in the learning of information and technology skills in partnership with classroom teachers and in alignment with AASL Standards for a 21st-Century Learner.
Leading technology-integration across the curriculum through support and instruction for usage of digital tools and electronic resources.
Stimulating interest in reading for enjoyment through the acquisition of current materials in a variety of accessible formats, promotions, displays and reading programs.
Vision:The vision of Hidden Valley Middle School Library endeavors to be a safe, welcoming center for students and the middle school community to gather, explore, share, and create in an environment that is focused on encouraging an appreciation of literature and preparing successful information and technology navigators in a complex and continually changing world. Fines:Overdue fines: $0.10 per day
Fines will not exceed $5.00 per item with the exception of lost materials (replacement cost).
Students will be responsible for the cost of any lost or damaged books
Collection Development and Selection Policy: In accordance with Jordan School District's Policy N. AA440 on Library Media Selection and Review, the HVMS Library Media Center shall select materials to "support the adopted courses of study" and "contribute to the development of the social, intellectual, and spiritual values of students." Instructional material shall be understood to include all books (texts both fiction and nonfiction); magazines and newspapers; all AV materials including audio, visual, and video formats or combination of formats; software; and any kits, models, games, etc. Copyright Guidelines: As stated in the Policy DE505 Acceptable Use of Copyrighted Materials in Jordan School District, requires that all employees and students be responsible for the legal, ethical, and appropriate use of copyrighted materials.
