Updated NHS Semester Requirements

Please note, the NHS member requirements have changed from last year. These requirements are by semester.

1. Attend 2 NHS activities

There will be 4 NHS activities per semester, each focusing on a core pillar. These activities are different from NHS sponsored service hours. Information about these activities will be found in the monthly meetings. An activity will be held approximately once every month.

2. Complete 5 NHS sponsored school service hours

Information about NHS sponsored service will be found in the meeting slideshow. Many will require sign-ups. These are different from NHS activities and will occur more frequently. Verify your service hours in your NHS-sponsored service hours spreadsheet found in your Google drive. Advisors will be updating this as you attend service activities as you do not have editing access. Contact them if there are mistakes.

3. Complete 5 individual service hours

Members must complete service hours seperate from NHS-sponsored service. Meaningful service towards your community, family, friends qualify. The service hour requirement has been lowered from previous years to emphasize the quality of your service. Record your own service hours in your personal service hours spreadsheet (seperate from the NHS-sponsored hours spreadsheet) found in your Google drive. You have access to edit this spreadsheet and are responsible to keep it updated by the end of each semester.

4. Maintain a 3.7 GPA

5. Pay dues

You can pay your NHS fee through Skyward, which may include a shirt fee.

*NHS members who do not meet the requirements will be placed on probation. Members on probation are required to make up hours, raise their GPA, and/or pay dues, otherwise they will be removed from NHS.

Character Policy 2025:

Unfortunately, too many members have failed to keep their NHS service hour commitments. In too many cases members sign up for services and then do not come to complete their hours.  Therefore, the following policy will be in force for 2nd semester 2025:

• Members who cannot meet their service commitment must replace themselves.

• If the member or the member’s replacement does not come to the service they signed up for, the original member who made the commitment will be assigned an additional NHS hour to complete.  

• All sign-up sheets will be uneditable after they are filled to prevent members from removing their names.
