SCHOOL MOTTO
History of South Jones Elementary
In 1892, a two storied school was established at the Deason Street location. This school was organized, owned, and operated by the city of Ellisville. In 1932, during the Great Depression, the city of Ellisville sold their franchise of a street car that ran from Ellisville to Laurel. With the proceeds of this sale, the city replaced the two-storied structure with what has been known as Ellisville Elementary, and continued to operate the school. Then, in 1954, Ellisville joined the Consolidation Program and many surrounding rural school students began attending Ellisville Elementary. In 1999, through state MAEP funding, the first phase of South Jones Elementary was completed on Warrior Road and housed grades 4-6. In 2008, the building was completed and grades K-3 joined South Jones Elementary.
