Mrs. Owen's Schedule
Lesson Times for Violin Classes: 2024-2025
VPA Suzuki Violin
Mrs. Delania Owen, instructor
Program Requirements:
➤Regular Home Practice with parental guidance is a MUST.
➤Teacher Recommendation - this will ensure that your child is meeting classroom requirements and can be pulled out of the classroom for violin time.
(Once in the program, I do communicate regularly with teachers to make sure that your child is not falling behind and also that behavior expectations are being met.)
➤Parents may attend lessons at any time. You can call the office to let them know you are coming.
➤Parents of Beginners must attend a required Parent Information Night.
➤Provide your child with an instrument. The school has enough rentals available for all students enrolled at this time. However, if you choose to buy an instrument on your own, please note that it must be approved by me to ensure that it is appropriate for your child. Be very cautious of purchasing instruments that are priced well below market value. One brand to avoid is Cecilio.
➤Check Classroom DOJO or Google Classroom often for information about your child’s class. You will also find listening links, extra teaching videos, and instructions pertaining to violin class.
Students are expected to:
➤Bring his/her instrument on lesson days and know their lesson time.
➤Practice skills at home!
➤Listen, cooperate, and take instruction during lessons. Failure to do so will result in dismissal from that lesson and possible further action if behavior issues continue.
➤Participate in school performances
➤Pass a required recital performance
➤Act respectfully toward the teacher and other students at all times.
➤Always check with the classroom teacher for any work missed during your violin time.
➤Check Google Classroom for listening links, assignments, and additional information regarding your violin class.
As you can see, we have high expectations in the VPA Strings Program! A student may be dismissed from the program if he/she does not comply with the above standards. Our program is considered an “honors” program- participation is a privilege and there are others on a waiting list that are ready and willing to enroll. If you and your child follow the Suzuki guidelines, you will be amazed with the results! I can only move forward with cooperation from students and parents. The pace at which we study is set by the students in that particular group, so keeping up and practicing at home is very important. We look forward to a great year in VPA Violin!
