CANES

Students in 1st and 2nd will receive 30 minutes of whole group enrichment instruction twice a month, with extra enrichment classes provided.  Lessons are in the areas of critical thinking, creativity and affective development.  Students will learn to work both independently and cooperatively while engaging in lessons that spark creativity .  Whole group enrichment is part is part of the identification process for gifted education.  CANES time allows the teacher to observe students and document characteristics of potential giftedness. 

**All 2nd grade students are screened for our gifted program during the second semester.
