Students will engage in a Community Engagement: Life skills event to practice restaurant skills on December 13th.
My name is Ms. Pamela Kale. I am the 1:10 teacher of students with severe disabilities. I'm very excited for the 2024-2025 school year! This marks my 24th year as an educator. I have been teaching the severe disabilities classroom at Annie Camp since 2011 and special education in the state of Arkansas since 2006. Prior to that, I taught special education in the state of Mississippi for five years. I am certified in the areas of Special Education; p-12, Elementary Education; p-4 and 5-8, Gifted Education; p-12. I look forward to working with both students and parents this year!
Ms. Elizabeth Cline and Mrs. Patricia Farris are paraprofessionals in the 1:10 classroom. They each bring a wealth of knowledge and professionalism in working with our students with special needs.
About Our Classroom
Important Links
We are thrilled to be recipients of a Foundation for Jonesboro Public Schools grant this 2024-2025 school year! We will be completing a Project Based Learning activity throughout the year focusing on Community Engagement: Life Skills.
Our classroom focuses on daily living and domestic life skills. The goal is for each student to be as independent as possible as they transition from a school setting to life on their own or with a caregiver. Students also get the opportunity for community based learning. Community outings include; shopping, eating at restaurants, visiting local businesses, attending the NEA District Fair and more!
Related services such as speech, occupational therapy and physical therapy are also very important to our students with disabilities. Our week consists of daily writing practice, fine motor skills, cooking, laundry and math/language groups. The students love attending PE class, Art, Library and breakfast/lunch with their peers. We also participate in Area 7 Special Olympics events for Bowling in the Fall and Track & Field in the Spring.
