Please check out the Google Classroom Code so that you can keep up to date with assignments, etc. in our classroom.
JHS EAST students spend the first few class periods participating in Team Building activities and brain stretches. They also learn to determine what is an EAST project and what is considered an activity. An EAST project must fill the CART.
CART stands for Critical thinking, Advance, Real and Teamwork.
The JHS students put together and organize equipment in the room. Students volunteer for jobs such as Printer Pro, Software Manager, Hardware Manager, EAST Ambassador, and Social Media Manager.
Once all of these things are in place the students begin the wonderful world of EAST Projects. This is where you see real student growth because the projects are self-directed and the timeline varies for each project.
Below is a sample of an introduction to using ESRI and the GIS mapping software. Once the student is familiar with the software they can then design any number of variations of their own maps.
The Google Slide deck to the left is used in the classroom each day. In addition there are supplemental materials such as UPFront magazines, Google Classroom assignments and internet resources.

Students learned to use the Cricut cutter and created monogrammed keychains for teachers as a "Random Act of Kindness" treat.
Yarn Project- Knitting Together for Others- Creating hats and scarves for those in need in our community.
EAST students put together hygiene care packages for our JHS students. We donated these to the HHS clothes closet.
Treat bags that we made for the students that complete our QR code Black History Month facts hunt.
