Hello everyone! My name is Josh Miller and I am beginning my 15th year in education. This will be my second year teaching at the Academies at Jonesboro High School and my 11th year teaching at Jonesboro Public Schools. I taught for five years at SUCCESS Achievement Academy and four years at Douglas MacArthur Junior High School. I began my teaching career at Blytheville Public Schools where I taught for two years before teaching at Manila Public Schools and Harrisburg Public Schools for one year each.
I was born and raised in Osceola, Arkansas where I graduated from high school in 2007. I went to college at Arkansas State University where I received my BSE in Mid-Level Education in 2011, an MSE in Mid-Level Education in 2013, and an Ed. S in Educational Leadership in 2017. I am certified to teach Mid-Level (Grades 4-8) in math, science, language arts, and social studies. I have a secondary math certification for grades 7-12 as well as a building level administrator license for grades P-12. My goal is to eventually move into school administration and one day lead a school.
I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I am very outgoing and energetic. If you see me acting like a goofball at work, I promise you that is normal! I love to cook and try new recipes. My favorite foods are almost anything ethnic (Mexican, Italian, Indian, Greek, etc...). I also love to travel. I have been all over the Caribbean on various cruises and even had an opportunity to swim with the dolphins in Mexico. I hope to visit Europe in the near future. When I am not working, I enjoy reading, watching horror movies, and having fun with family and friends. I am also a big 80's rock band thanks to my mother. If you see me driving around town and you hear 80's rock blasting... that's probably me! :) I enjoy teaching and math is my deepest passion when I am in the classroom. I always consider every student I teach or have taught in the past my kiddos. I am excited about this new school year and hope your Hurricane child leaves at the end of the year more confident than ever in math!
