Welcome to Mr. Aycock and Mrs. Shepherd's Page

Welcome Back Cyclones!  I am Mrs. Shepherd and I will be co-teaching this class with Mr. Aycock.  Yes, you get to have two teachers.  How sweet is that! This year marks my 22nd year of teaching and my 7th year teaching at MacArthur.  Prior to teaching at MacArthur I taught at Marion Junior High School for six years and spent nine years teaching in Memphis City Schools.

I grew up in a small town in Central Massachusetts named, Royalston.  The town was known for its Dairy Farms and country living.  Upon graduation from high school, I attended a two-year college where I earned an associate's degree.  I then transferred to the University of Memphis (Go Tigers Go!) and obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Education and my Master's Degree in Special Education.

I am married to my fabulous husband, Josh, who also works in the education field as an administrator. We have two wonderful children. Jacob is 11 and headed to the 5th grade and Sadie is 5 headed to kindergarten.  Between their athletic activities and school, they keep us busy.

I am looking forward to working with this year's 9th graders!  Algebra I will be their first high school math credit!  Let's knock it out of the park!

Being a JHS alum and having attended MacArthur, I am extremely excited to be returning to teach! While attending JHS I played football and basketball. During my time in high school I was a part of our 2016 conference championship in football and our 2017 & 2018 state championship basketball teams. After graduating from JHS in 2018, I moved to Baton Rouge where I attended LSU and played football.

While at LSU I made SEC academic honor roll twice, two year member of the football travel squad, and a part of the 2019 SEC & national championship football team. In May of 2021, I graduated from LSU with a bachelor's in business. After graduation I worked in Baton Rouge for a brief period for a consumer finance company. In January of 2022 I moved to New Orleans to begin working in the staffing industry. After spending a year as a recruiter, I decided that I wanted to make a career change and become a teacher/coach.

I am thrilled to be coming back home and begin my career in education. The opportunity to make a difference in students lives is something that I am looking forward to!

In addition to teaching I am coaching football at JHS, basketball at MacArthur, and pursuing my Master of Arts in Teaching online at UCA.
