About Me

I am a proud product of the Jonesboro School District. I went to North Elementary, MacArthur Jr. High, and graduated from Jonesboro High School. I then went on to receive my Bachelor's in Education at Arkansas State University. In 2007 I earned my National Board Certification as an Early Childhood Generalist and then went through recertification in 2017. I started my career in education working with preschoolers and toddlers at an ASU early childhood grants program. I then began my public school teaching career at Cedar Park Elementary in Trumann, Ar where I taught third grade for two years and coached the Odyssey of the Mind team. It was a great experience, and I met so many wonderful people, but my heart kept pulling me back home to be a Hurricane. Since being in the Jonesboro School District I have taught fifth, second, first, and third grade. I have been teaching third grade since 2018. The most rewarding thing about being a teacher is helping students reach that "a-ha" moment, when they realize they can do something they didn't believe they could.

My husband and I have been married for thirteen years. We first met when we were just teenagers working at McDonalds, but then we grew up and went our separate ways. Later in life we reconnected and have been together ever since. Our oldest son has blessed us with three beautiful grandchildren that are so much fun! We also have three rescue dogs. Penny and Copper are our beagles, and we have a German Shepard mix named Maverick. We love our spoiled pups!

I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I've always been close to my family, including my extended family. I love big family get togethers, especially at holidays.

I count myself very blessed to have the same ladies as my best friends for 40+ years. I couldn't imagine doing life without them. We get together every chance we get although it's hard to get our schedules to coincide.

My husband and I love to travel, especially to any place with a beach! We've been to Mexico several times and even got married in a beautiful cabana in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
