Welcome to math class! I am honored to be able to share our passion for math with you!
It won't take you long to see the level of energy that we will have in this class! The environment is positive, supportive and we will work everyday to sustain rich mathematical conversations. In order to reach this goal, Jo Boaler, a professor of mathematics education at Stanford University, suggests that the following set of classroom norms are established.
- Everyone can learn math to the highest levels
- Mistakes are valuable
- Questions are really important
- Math is about creativity and making sense
- Math is about connections and communicating
- Math class is about learning not performing
- Depth is more important than speed
These beliefs are at our core as math educators! Be willing to take risks, ask questions and learn from each other. Know that you will make mistakes because this is when the greatest amount of learning occurs.

7:10: Report to 1st Block
7:15 - 8:39: 1st Block
8:44 - 10:05: 2nd Block
10:10 - 11:31: 3rd Block
11:31 - 12:01: Lunch A (Math Tutorials on Monday for 1st block and Thursday for 2)
12:04 - 12:34: Lunch B (Math Tutorials on Thursday)
12:39 - 2:00: 4th Block
Collective Student Norms
- Arrive to class on time
- Be in class or have the proper pass
- Show respect to all staff and students
- Show respect for school property
- Practice academic integrity
- Avoid non-instructional cell phone use during class time
- Follow school entry and exit procedures
- Do not engage in inappropriate physical contact or any drug use
- Attend assigned tutorials
- Follow all directives from all staff members
