The 2010-2011 Riverwood Middle School Battle of the Books Team placed 4th in the county competition held in February at Selma Elementary School. They posed for this picture before leaving Riverwood the morning of the competition.

Congratulations to the 2013-2014 BOB Team for a job well done! They placed 2nd in the county competition among 12 schools. McGees Middle placed 1st with Smithfield Middle in 3rd place. It was a hard fought battle. We are so proud of each of our team members!
Congratulations to Riverwood’s 2014-2015 Battle of the Books Team on a job well done. They came in 1st place out of 12 schools in the County Competition in Smithfield on March 5, 2015. Cleveland Middle placed 2nd and McGee’s Middle took 3rd place. This was a intense battle and we are proud of all of our team members. They will now advance to the Regional Competition. Once again, congratulations to Riverwood's Battle of the Books Team on a job well done, this time representing Johnston County in the Regional Competition. They came in 2nd place out of 11 counties at the April 15th competition in Wilson, NC. Durham County, represented by Roger-Herr Middle, placed 1st and Wake County, represented by Apex Middle, took 3rd place. This was a very close battle with only a 2 point difference between the winner and our team. We are incredibly proud of all of our team members!
As a result of winning the county competition last year, 2015-2016 team is sporting their t-shirt design. They came in 4th place out of 12 schools in the February 26th County Competition in Smithfield. Clayton Middle placed 1st, Four Oaks Middle placed 2nd, and Cleveland Middle took 3rd place. This was an intense battle and we are proud of all of our team members.

Congratulations to the 2017-2018 RMS Battle of the Book team on a job well done. They came in 1st out of 12 schools in the February 23rd county competition in Smithfield. They prepared well and it paid off with a win in which they scored well above all the other teams! Swift Creek Middle placed 2nd and Smithfield Middle took 3rd place. We are so very proud of all of our team members, who will now represent Johnston County at the regional competition in April!
`Congratulations once again to Riverwood’s Battle of the Books team on a job well done! This time representing Johnston County in the Regional Competition. They came in 4th place out of 9 counties in Friday’s competition in Durham, NC. Chatham County, represented by Margaret B. Pollard Middle, placed 1st and Charter Schools, represented by Central Park School for Children Middle, took 2nd place. The 3rd place team was Wake County, represented by Apex Middle. Our team played some stiff competition, but they showed that they know how to prepare and perform. We are incredibly proud of all of our team members!

Smithfield Middle took 1st place and Swift Creek Middle and Cleveland Middle tied for 3rd place.

Congratulations to Riverwood’s Battle of the Books team! They took 5th place in the March 19th county competition, which was held virtually this year. Swift Creek Middle placed 1st, Smithfield Middle placed 2nd, and Cleveland Middle took 3rd place.
Our team thoroughly enjoyed finally being together as a team for this special day! Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, all practices were virtual, with only 2 team members ever in the building at the same time before our competition day. During the competition students wore masks and were socially distanced, while competing with teams located at their own schools and some students participating from their homes. This competition was a true celebration and we are proud of all of our team members!

2021-2022 Battle of the Books Team
Congratulations to Riverwood’s Battle of the Books team! They took 6th place in the February 25th county competition, which was held virtually for the second year. Swift Creek Middle placed 1st, North Johnston Middle placed 2nd, and Cleveland Middle took 3rd place. Our team thoroughly enjoyed this true celebration of reading and they worked hard in preparation for this day of competition. We are proud of all of our team members!

Congratulations to Riverwood’s Battle of the Books team! They performed well in the March 14th district competition, which was held at Centennial United Methodist Church in Smithfield this year; completing 2 perfect rounds, which is a rarity in the BOB competitions! Our team placed 5th out of 12 teams, tying with Meadow School. The 1st place winner was Four Oaks Middle, 2nd place went to Swift Creek Middle, Archer Lodge Middle took 3rd place. Our team thoroughly enjoyed this celebration of reading and they worked hard, logging nearly 30 hours of team practices and countless hours of independent reading in preparation for this day of competition. We are proud of all of our team members!
