Literacy Is For Everyone

What is it?

The Literacy Is for Everyone (L.I.F.E.) program will build the capacity of teachers and teams as they collaborate to create multidisciplinary units of instruction that incorporate complex texts and literacy skills across content areas. The program seeks to cultivate educators who embrace literacy as a critical component of teaching and learning.

Who can do it?

L.I.F.E. teams are composed of up to 8 teachers from the following disciplines (or with the following lenses in mind):

    • ESL
    • EC
    • Electives/Enhancements (media, art, music, PE, STEM, etc)
    • Social Studies
    • Science
    • ELA

Additionally, your administrator(s) may select individuals that bring another unique lens to their L.I.F.E. team such as a counselor, math teacher, or curriculum coach.

Regardless of specific makeup, all members must teach/interact with the same group of students to ensure successful implementation. Furthermore, each team must include at least one ELA teacher.

What will we do? When will we do it?

Team members will learn, plan, implement, and reflect together as they go through this year-long process.

    2. EACH team member should submit an application form separately.
