Phase 1: 33 hour Classroom Course with final exam

Key information to know before you sign-up:
-Only Cleveland HS students and students in the CVHS attendance boundary who are homeschooled or attend a private school should sign up for Driver Ed at Cleveland HS due to the waiting list at Cleveland HS. If you are a student elsewhere, you should take Driver Ed at your assigned school site. Our Cleveland DE classes nearly always fill up with Cleveland HS students and those within our attendance boundaries.
-Student-Parent Meeting is mandatory in order to participate in Driver Education. That information will be shared via email once the class is populated.
-Attendance at ALL class sessions is mandatory. If you have a conflict, you should sign up for a different class as exceptions cannot be accomodated.
-Fees for the class are $90. This includes $65 for driver education, and $25 for Alive @ 25. There is a reduced rate available for students who qualify and more information about that will be shared at the parent meeting. We will cover how to pay these fees at the parent meeting.

Your student only needs to be signed up once during the online sign-ups for a class. Seats are not first come-first serve. Seats are assigned based on age of all students signed up, once we close registration. We plan to offer a sufficient amount of classes that no student is waiting too long for a class. We often host double- and triple-classes to serve as many students as we can.
Once sign-ups are closed, here's what to expect next:
Parents will receive an email to confirm their student's seat in the class, or that the class was full.
Parents and students attend the Online Parent Meeting via Google Meet. Links sent via email once class is populated.
Student completes the Driver Ed Class.

This class is mandatory class for all JCPS students in Driver Education. ONLY sign up if you have completed a driver education course through CVHS or a private driver education company. Students should note, they must complete Alive@25 before they purchase a parking permit at the high school.

Students are assigned to driving instructors by class. We make every effort to finish assigning one driver education class, before moving to the next. We assign students to instructors in order of birthday, assigning the oldest students in the class first. Driving Instructors will reach out to their assigned students to arrange their driving schedule and complete this phase. Most Driving Instructors drive pairs of students 3 hrs/day for 4 days, or 4 hrs/day for 3 days.
This phase does take time, and we are doing our best to work through our student-drivers as quickly as possible.

Be at least 14 ½ years old at the start of the class he/she is planning to attend.
Must be under the age of 18.
Have passed 8th grade.
Sign up and be registered for the class.
Attend Parent Meeting once registered.
Be enrolled at Cleveland HS, or live within the Cleveland HS Attendance Boundary.
Unfortunately, due to demand for our program, we offer our class seats to our Cleveland students and those within our boundaries first.

The total cost for Drivers Ed is $90. This includes classroom and behind the wheel training ($65) and the Alive @25 class ($25).
There is a reduced rate for those who are eligible. This will be discussed at the Parent Meeting.
