IMPORTANT DATES:

APRIL 25, 2026: Trip, all day (arrive at school by 5:45am to leave at 6:00am. We will return around 10:30pm)

APRIL 23, 2025: MANDATORY Rehearsal, 3pm - 5pm

MARCH 25, 2026: All monies must be paid by this date (students and chaperones) (unless on a monthly autopay plan)

AGENDA

5:45am - Leave Cleveland Middle
9:30am - Arrive at Courtland High School
11:20am - Choir Warm Up
11:40am - Choir performs
Students In Showcase of Stars need to change Into costume, the rest of the students eat lunch In the parking lot.
12:00pm - Showcase of Stars group warms up
12:20pm - Showcase of Stars group sings (afterwards they will change and eat on the bus)
12:50pm - Leave Courtland High School
1:15pm - Arrive at Kings Dominion
5:15pm - Awards at the Peanuts Showcase Theater
5:45pm - More time In the park
7:30pm - Head to the buses
8:00pm - Leave Kings Dominion
11:00pm - Arrive back at Cleveland Middle

BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS:

If a student Is not participating In class and causing frequent disruptions, they will not be permitted to attend the field trip. Mrs. Bottomley will communicate with parents If your child Is not behaving. It is essential to behave and participate In class as we are preparing for this trip.
If a student receives ONE day of out-of-school suspension, or TWO days of In-school suspension, or THREE write ups after February 1, they will not be permitted to attend this trip. If a student is unable to participate on the trip after April 1, all monies paid are nonrefundable.

Here Is the payment link for the trip.. If you choose a payment plan, It will auto debit the amount each month from your account until the amount Is paid.

Chaperone Bus Pay ($75)

CHAPERONES

Chaperones will be In charge of a small group of students. If a chaperone Is just taking their own child around the park, they will need to sign them out after we perform (you should also drive separately). It will be granted on a first come, first serve basis. All chaperones riding the bus must take a small group of students around the park (Instead of just their own child).

FUNDRAISING

We are raising funds so we can do even more choir and theatre activities at Cleveland Middle School! For students going on the Kings Dominion Field Trip or who are participating in Showcase of Stars - this also serves as a fundraiser for field trip fees.

How it works: Every dollar you raise, 80 cents goes back to your field trip account! If you raise $162.50, your trip is paid for! **This can also go towards your Showcase of Stars costume fee (if you are in this group).

What to do: Visit the website below. Register your child and put in contact information of people who you think might want to support our choir and theatre programs. Then you will receive a personalized fundraising page for your child that you can share with others and track donations!

TRIP INFORMATION

What: A field trip to sing in front of adjudicators/judges. We will sing for the judges at a local school. They will score our two musical selections and give us constructive feedback we can use to improve. Then, students will be able to play at the park and attend the awards ceremony later that evening!

What should I wear: Choir tee shirt (please double check and make sure the shirt is from THIS YEAR, black pants (NO HOLES), black shoes. After the performance, students can change into school-appropriate shorts, but should keep their choir shirts on so they can be identified in the park.

What is on the bus: We are taking charter buses. The buses will have outlets, as well as a restroom.

Can chaperones ride the bus? Yes on a first come, first serve basis.

If I chaperone, can I bring my entire family? Yes, but all adults need to be level 2 volunteers. (You CAN sign your child out to ride home with you.)

Can I bring food on the bus: Yes, please keep the bus neat though. The bus company treats us VERY well and we want to keep our good relationship with them by treating their bus like gold! PLEASE DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANY DAIRY PRODUCTS PRIOR TO SINGING!!

Can I bring my phone: That is up to you and your parents. If you are bringing a phone, please do not post photos of people whose photo you don't have permission to post, please only listen to school appropriate music, and you will need to put your phone in a bag or with a chaperone while we are singing. CvMS is NOT responsible for lost, broken, or stolen phones or anything else that is lost, stolen, or broken.

Time at the park: Students will be able to choose their groups, but we will group them by the type of rides they like to ride (low key, middle of the road, thrill seeker).

Is food included: A pizza lunch is Included. Students should bring money for dinner and snacks In the park. They can also bring a bagged dinner and snacks for the ride home. Students can bring snacks for the bus, too.

Can I send cash with my student for food or souvenirs: No, Kings Dominion is cashless. Here is what we suggest:

-setting up Apple Pay on your child's phone

-setting up Google Pay on your child's phone

-giving your child a pre-paid Visa or Mastercard gift card

-letting your child use a debit or credit card

-Downloading the Kings Dominion app and purchasing the dining plan for your child

We DO NOT recommend giving your child cash to put on a card at the park. In years past, multiple machines were not working efficiently and the lines were extremely long (one group waited 45 minutes!)
