Sometimes, students need a little more practice with certain topics like teamwork, friendship, and anger management. Your child may be invited to join one of my small groups to work on some of these skills and enhance their overall school experience. Group formation is data-driven, though teachers and parents are welcome to request that a student join a particular group. Here is a list of some of the themes we will navigate this year:
Self-Control
Friendship Skills
Conflict Resolution
Anti-Bullying
Respect
Emotion Detective
Empathy
Acceptance
Growth Mindset
Kindness
Responsibility
Healthy Habits
Coping Skills
If your student or your family is struggling to cope with situations inside or outside of school, please feel free to reach out so that I can assist any life transition. School Counseling is short-term and solution-focused, so in the event that more long-term support is needed, I have resources for referrals to outside agencies. Here are some topics that in-school counseling may be used for:
Anxiety
Behavior Support
Social Support
Grief and Loss
Separation/Divorce
Military Deployment
Parent/Guardian Incarceration
Foster Care Transition
