ABOUT ME:
My name is Leah Stephens. I grew up in Paintsville, KY and moved to Richmond, Ky when I was 18 years old to attend Eastern Kentucky University to study Speech-Language Pathology. I knew from the time I was 14 years old that I wanted to be a speech therapist for children. While in Richmond, I met Ben. After we graduated from EKU, we moved to Huntington, WV in 2005 so that I could attend graduate school at Marshall University. We later moved back to my hometown, where Ben became the Spanish teacher at JCHS as well as the pastor of First Christian Church in Paintsville. I got my dream job at Highland Elementary, where I have worked since 2007. We stay busy with our three kids, Carter (15 years old), Cara (12 years old) and Cannon (6 years old). We love our family, friends ("framily"), and our church family and consider ourselves to be blessed beyond measure.
My personal mission statement:
I strive to make the world a better place by bringing positivity and encouragement to everyone I meet. I want to help everyone recognize and value their worth so that they are able to spread positivity and love to everyone THEY meet.
Class mission statement: Mrs. Stephens' speech classes will be a supportive and encouraging place where every student can reach his/her full potential by working hard and encouraging others as we strive to gain skills and acheive our goals!
School mission statement:
We believe our purpose is to holistically educate all students to their fullest potential emotionally, physically, academically, socially, and morally. We want to serve our community by serving our students and giving them opportunities to grow in all aspects of life.
