The Season has Begun!

The Curtis Volleyball Team started off the season with a win against South Lafourche in a game of five sets! These Patriots have the mindset to keep fighting and never give up, which clearly shows in the first match of the season. This season has already had so many matches in the first two weeks, but that doesn't stop the Lady Patriots from coming out on top!
Season Opener vs. South Lafourche
Reverse Sweep! Varsity followed JV with a slow start but fought back and won the last 3 sets! To have the mindset of winning after losing the first two sets and almost falling short in the third shows the fight this team will have this upcoming season. A reverse sweep is when a team coming back from an 0-2 loss in a best-of-five match wins the next 3 sets, thus winning the match 3-2.

Curtis vs Terrebonne
The Lady Patriots started off the night by taking the first set, but fell short in the second set losing 25-23. Overall, they fought back and defeated the Terrebonne Tigers in a 4 set match. The student section was packed. Make sure you come to the next home game to get your class patriot points!

Dutchtown Tournament
John Curtis vs Calvary Baptist & Ascension Catholic & Dunham & St. Joseph's
These Lady Patriots beat Calvary Baptist, Ascension Catholic, and Dunham in this two-day tournament, gaining three more dubs to the stack. Sadly, they fell short to St. Joseph's, losing in 2 sets. In this tournament, the games were best 2 out of 3, going to 25 first two sets and breaking a tie game to 15 in the 3rd set, if it came down to that. The Patriots fought hard to win against Dunham and are very proud of beating the team they lost to at state last year, proving they have only gotten better since last season. Beating Calvary Baptist and Ascension Catholic only mean good for their upcoming season and just help the team get better and improve to keep winning against predictable teams.

Junior Varsity
JV matches play best 2 out of 3. This JV team started off strong in the first set, but sadly fell short in the second and knew they had to come back for the win in the third set. Overall, they won taking the third set, supposed to go to 15, went all the way 17-19 to finish the game! Jordyn Jackson, Junior, was the strong server to end the game off with the dub.
Varsity
These Patriots took the dub in 3 sets! A calm sweep to keep the season going after coming back from the Dutchtown Tournament is just what they needed. Everyone knew their role and played it very well. If the whole team is ready to play and cheer, then they are unstoppable!
Curtis vs Pope John Paul

This was an unexpected game and a sad loss for the Curtis Patriots. The first two sets were not their best and fell short to PJP. These girls knew they had to change something and fight back, winning the next TWO SETS! Their fight to win is unstoppable, but sadly it wasn't enough to win a set to 15 against the Jaguars, losing 11-15. Thank you to all of the Patriots that showed up and showed out for the volleyball team!
Curtis vs Kenner Discovery
Another win for the Patriots! A sweep for the girls after Thursday night, winning in 3 sets. Makayla Morter had some amazing swings and helped Curtis gain more points. This game, supposed to be an easy win, actually had the Kenner Discovery Owls putting up a fight trying hard not to let the Patriots take the dub too easily. No one can out-fight these girls!
JV Tournament
The JV Volleyball Team was lucky enough to participate in the Fontainebleau JV Tournament! As they kept playing, the teams got more and more difficult, causing more of a challenge for these girls. They lost two out of the four games they played, but that didn't stop them from playing their hardest. They played against Dominican, Lakeshore, Northshore, and Mandeville (losing to Dominican and Mandeville).
