Resources For Parents and Students
Have you talked to your student about fentanyl?
Fentanyl is the most common substance found in opioid overdose deaths in Arizona – teens as young as 14 years old have overdosed and died.
Illegal fentanyl is being mixed with other drugs, such as cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine. This is especially dangerous because people are often unaware that fentanyl has been added. The high potency of fentanyl greatly increases risk of overdose, especially if a person who uses drugs is unaware that a powder or pill contains it. To learn more check out this video.

This report speaks to how all of us can take action to positively impact the mental health wellness of youth in our country. It identifies risk factors contributing to youth mental health symptoms and it also recognizes those groups at higher risk of mental health challenges during the pandemic.
Importantly, it focuses mostly on the action steps youth, schools, families, communities and media outlets can take to improve the lifestyle conditions, personal approaches and overall wellbeing for youth.
As adults, we are encouraged to model taking care of our own mental and physical health. We are encouraged to develop stable relationships with our youth. Additionally, we are encouraged to minimize negative influences and behaviors in the lives of youth.
We invite you to read the report to learn more.
