John Monash Science School started teaching Data Science to year 10s in 2016. In year 11 Computer Science we have been partnering with Scientists to meet their Data needs since 2011, and it has become increasingly apparent that the Scientists of today wish they had better computational & Data Science Skills. Since we are teaching the Scientists of tomorrow, we decided to teach our year 10s the fundamentals of Data Science - programming, the limitations of computational accuracy, data analysis & visualisation - in order to equip them for science in the 21st century. Now, thanks to Google and their Computer Science 4 High Schools funding, we can put the course online and make it freely available. Check back here for updates on when the course will be available, and email linda.mciver@jmss.vic.edu.au if you would be interested in road testing our courseware.
