Founded in 2005, Raptor Force Engineering (RFE) is the Robotics team at Jim Elliot Christian High School (JECHS), competing first as Team 1662 in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) division which is an international high school program where students with the help of their mentors design, program, and build industrial-sized robots to play an action packed game. In 2012, Team 1662 became the Israeli Regional Champions for the third time. Team 1662 was the FIRST American team to have won an international Regional Championship with FRC. That following year, they won two Industrial Design Awards in Davis, Ca and Silicon Valley. Team 1662 continued to be an award winning team for the several years to follow.
2024 was the team's rookie year participating in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) division as Team 25725 Raptor Force Engineering. In this division 7th - 12th grade students work together with their mentors to design and build dynamic robots to compete in an exciting robust alliance game each season. In this rookie year team 25725 continued to excel building off the Team 1662 platform as they too won multiple awards in the FTC division. Raptor Force Engineering Team 25725 was awarded the Judges Choice award, Innovate Award, as well as the Design Award, and they were the Winning Alliance Team Captain during the 2024-2025 Wilcox High School Qualifying Tournament which advanced them to the NorCal Regional Championship.
On and off the field, students develop STEM skills, engage in community outreach, practice engineering innovation, and build confidence to help them succeed in life. The team's mission statement is to "Use a Robot to Change Lives." Our mission is to always create a positive and motivational atmosphere where those we encounter leave changed, inspired, supported, encouraged, strengthened and impacted from any interaction with our robot and/or program participants.
