About Us

Who We Are

We are the DNA special interest group (DNA-SIG) for the Jewish Genealogical Society of Toronto (JGST). We are genealogists who use genetic tools to advance our family history research. Many of us are also interested in other insights that genealogical DNA test results can provide. Our members include beginning to advanced practitioners of genetic genealogy.

What We Do

Regular Meetings. We get together in person for presentations on genetic genealogy topics, to learn from each other by sharing our knowledge and research experiences, and to explore other things that interest the group's members. Participation in our regular meetings is free to members of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Toronto, but you must be a JGST member to attend. You'll find our next scheduled meeting with the event name "DNA-SIG JGST meeting" on our events calendar.

Special Events. Our group's members sponsor and give presentations to the general membership of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Toronto at its monthly meetings. These are open to non-members for a small fee of $5.

Some DNA-SIG members also offer occasional workshops providing an extended introduction to genetic genealogy or a deeper exploration of a specific subject. These are open to anyone, for a modest fee that is discounted for JGST members. Upcoming workshops will appear on our News & Events page.

Online Discussion Forum. Our members can be found asking and answering questions at the DNA Discussion Forum hosted at the JGST website. The forum is only available to JGST members who are logged in at that website, otherwise you'll receive a "page not found" message.
