FIRST® STEAMWORKS, the 2017 FIRST® Robotics Competition game, invites two adventurers’ clubs, in an era where steam power reigns, to prepare their airships for a long-distance race. Each three-team alliance prepares in three ways:
Build steam pressure
Start rotors
Prepare for flight

THE ROBOT
Name: TARS
Information: TARS focuses primarily on gears and climbing, achieving an average of 8 gears per match at the regional championship with a consistent climber. The robot weighed 70 lbs (bumpers not included). The tank drive base could cross the field in 6 seconds. The simplistic gear mechanism exemplified the team's ability The climber uses a ratcheting wrench to ensure success and a rapid victory.
