Once every academic year, the department chair visits an English faculty's classroom to provide support and feedback in the form of a classroom evaluation.
The evaluation process is an opportunity for the chair and faculty member to connect and discuss best practices in English instruction.
The department chair will observe a single class session and make observations on the following:
Clarity of content presentation and instruction
Classroom management, including inclusivity, student engagement, and student interest
The goal for the feedback is to provide the faculty member with constructive, actionable feedback.
After the classroom visit, the chair will type up notes and meet with the instructor to discuss.
