What is Discover?

Discover encompasses both First Year Experience (FYE) and Student Orientation. Freshmen and first time college students are put into a Discover group where for the year where they learn about what it means to be a college student and learn about the Jessup community and resources available on campus.

Why is Discover Important?

Discover as a whole helps freshman and first year college students to become engaged in the Jessup community and to learn about the resources available on campus. Discover is a small group where students discover what they want to do and what they want their college experience to look like.

What is a Discover Ambassador?

Discover Ambassadors (DA) are fellow Jessup students who lead freshmen through their first year of college in FYE and Discover classes. DAs are there not only to lead the classes, but also are there to offer support and helpful tips about college and Jessup. They also assist the Discover Captain in lesson planning and help other area teams in JOE with their events.

What is a Discover Captain?

Discover Captain oversees all FYE and Discover classes. Discover Captains help create lesson plans and plan activities for the Discover classes. Discover Captains also gives support and helps Discover Ambassadors in their leadership role.

What is a Discover Intern?

Discover Interns are student leaders who work as a team to welcome and support incoming students throughout their first year at Jessup. Discover Interns help plan orientation as well as other Jessup events including Freak Seek for freshman Discover groups, National Transfer Week for Jessup transfer students, Torch Passing for freshmen and seniors, and much more!
