Osteopathy is an evidence-based approach to healthcare focusing on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders. In the UK, it is a statutorily regulated profession. Osteopaths complete a rigorous four-year Master’s degree and must be registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) to ensure the highest standards of clinical safety and patient care.
Rather than simply masking symptoms with temporary relief, osteopathy looks at the body as a fully connected biomechanical unit to identify the root mechanical cause of your pain. Guided by the biopsychosocial model, my approach also recognises that physical pain is deeply intertwined with stress, lifestyle, and occupational demands.
Osteopathy is an effective management option for a broad range of acute and chronic issues. While this list is non-exhaustive, I commonly treat:
Head & Neck: Cervicogenic and tension headaches, neck stiffness, whiplash, and TMJ (jaw) disorders.
Shoulders, Arms & Wrists: Rotator cuff injuries, frozen shoulder, tennis and golfer’s elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist pain, and repetitive strain injuries (RSI).
Mid Back & Ribs: Postural fatigue, occupational postural strain, muscle spasms, and rib restrictions.
Lower Back & Pelvis: Acute lower back pain, sciatica, disc protrusion pain, chronic stiffness, and pelvic imbalances.
Hips & Lower Limbs: Hip joint pain, early osteoarthritis management, runner’s knee, ligament sprains, plantar fasciitis, and sports injuries.
Chronic & Systemic: Arthritic and rheumatic pain, migraines, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, hypermobility syndromes (including Ehlers-Danlos syndrome) and mechanical tension associated with digestive problems.
Pregnancy & Paediatric (Ages 8+): Pregnancy-related back and pelvic girdle pain, postural concerns, functional scoliosis, youth sports injuries, and growth-related conditions such as Osgood-Schlatter disease.
Your recovery requires a personalised approach. Following a thorough clinical and postural assessment to establish a working diagnosis, we will discuss a targeted management plan. Treatment typically involves hands-on structural osteopathy, including joint articulation, soft tissue release, and targeted joint manipulation (such as High-Velocity Low-Amplitude thrusts). Where appropriate, I also integrate medical acupuncture (dry needling) to help down-regulate nervous system tension and settle the musculoskeletal system.
Beyond the treatment space, I provide tailored exercise rehabilitation and self-management strategies. This ensures you leave the clinic empowered to build long-term physical resilience and prevent future injuries.
Medical Acupuncture | Dry Needling
Medical acupuncture is an effective, research-backed technique used to manage pain and accelerate recovery in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. It relies on strict anatomical principles and works through two primary mechanisms:
Trigger Point Release: Targeting deep, localised muscle tension to physically release tightness and relieve acute pain.
Neuromodulation: Stimulating the central nervous system to alter how the brain interprets pain signals. This creates a natural analgesic (pain-relieving) effect, making it particularly beneficial for chronic or highly sensitive conditions.
Where clinically suitable, medical acupuncture can be seamlessly integrated into your osteopathic treatment plan.
