Fire Station Well

Fire Station Well

Chandler, AZ | Completion: January 2020

We started the design phase of this project back in December 2017. This well was a bit unique in its ability to pump to either the municipal water system, or to reclaim distribution (to supplement reclaim irrigation customers). Since you can’t connect a municipal water well to reclaim, the station dumps water via an air gap into a vault, and then pumps that into the reclaim system. It’s a configuration we’ve done a few times for the City of Chandler, although this project has a few new features, including a local display of shut-down alarms. Additionally, after the initial design the project underwent some budget crunching, and the reclaim pump station, standby generator, and other appurtenances were set aside to be used as “future” items.

We worked with Felix contractors to “value engineer” the design. Although we’ve worked for years to maintain a minimal list of high-quality instruments across all of Chandler’s facilities, we allowed a few less expensive options for this project (the flowmeter for example). Felix built the panel directly from our drawings (as per usual), without having to do a control panel submittal.

This is one of the first wells to include our advanced pump diagnostics in the PLC program.
