Program Mission Statement and Philosophy

The baseball program at Fort Jennings High School is designed to

  • Create an atmosphere that generates pride and tradition from all areas in the community.

  • Work together with the athletic department, Musketeer Athletic Boosters, and district administration to create a program that includes school-wide goals.

  • Emphasize the importance and development of fundamentals, technique, and discipline as the backbone of the program.

  • Provide to the student-athlete an inspirational and motivational environment where preparation, practice, and pride generate legitimate opportunities for success.

The following components make up what the Fort Jennings High School Baseball program attempts to teach every student-athlete:

  • A positive attitude

  • The ability to handle adversity

  • Baseball skills on the field

  • The ability to clearly communicate

  • Being a positive and supportive teammate

  • Staying in the moment and enjoying the challenges

  • The individual athlete has control over their effort and attitude

  • Developing the charter traits of class, character, and commitment

  • Embrace the opportunity to and the process that supports coaching and playing successful baseball

  • Development of life long friendships and relationships

Attitude

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, that what other people think or say or do. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day. We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you. We are in charge of our attitudes."

Charles Swindoll

Effort

"Satisfaction lies in the effort, not in the attainment, full effort is full victory."

Mahatma Gandhi

"Success is dependent on effort"

Sophocles

"But Effort? Nobody can judge that because effort is between you and you."

Ray Lewis

"Great effort springs naturally from great attitude"
