SENIOR SPOTLIGHTS

JOE CARROLL

JORDAN ROBINSON

LETICIA WUTHRICH

And his proudest moment was a time when he was really young and he went sledding down a massive hill despite being scared. "It was pretty great." "I feel so deeply ashamed that I ever went to school with a cold and could have spread it to others around me." Currently, Sara's favorite read is the Renegades trilogy by Marissa Meyer. CHRISTOPHER KOCH

REBECCA RHODES

In addition to the information in the graphic, Rebecca tells us that when the pandemic ends she hopes everyone continues to be kind to theirselves and gives themselves a break. "Before the pandemic everyone was under so much pressure, and I hope we can cut each other a bit more slack and try to love each other." Rebecca's proudest moments were when she received the Fine Arts Award for Documentary Filmmaking at Interlochen Center for the Arts in the Summer of 2019, and when Film Club had their first screening! Rebecca's favorite book is “I Am Malala” by Malala Yousafzai and her favorite song is "Come On Eileen" by the Dexys Midnight Runners. Rebecca says, "I’ve loved every class and every teacher I’ve had in high school. Each one has had an impact in my growth as a member of society and I am eternally grateful for their love and support." Join us in cheering for Rebecca and all the members of the Class of 2021!

HILARY SHAKELTON

In addition to the information in the graphic, Hilary tells us that when the pandemic ends, she's really looking forward to parties and sporting events, and being able to see large groups of friends. Her proudest moment was being accepted to Johns Hopkins. "It means the world that I could make it to my dream school." Noname inspires Hilary. "She’s a rapper and poet who is super awesome and politically active - if you’ve never heard of her, go listen!" And Hilary's favorite teachers are Ms. Davis, Ms. Perry, and Ms. Goldstein. CARSON FOWLER

In addition to the information in the graphic, Carson tells us that his proudest moment is getting into the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse. The person who inspires Carson the most is his Dad and his favorite teacher is Ms. Davis. Carson hopes that after the pandemic his friendships will continue into college. The looks on the men's faces as they were shown up by a teenage girl is something she will cherish until the end of time. Audrey's favorite High School teacher is Mrs. Weimer, her favorite teacher of all time is Mr. Brooks, and her favorite song is Vive la Verse. In addition to the information in the graphic, Guc tells us that he is proudest of being able to wear Shaker Raiders across his chest all 4 years for Football; he wouldn’t trade that for the world. Guc's favorite teacher easily would be Mr. Babinec, and he hopes that after the pandemic is over he can keep his podcast going and his obsession with good late-night movies! MAX CARROLL

Chick Corea has always been one of Max’s biggest inspirations, and he strives to play piano like him. DALTON MOSLEY

In addition to the information in the graphic, Dalton tells us that one thing he’s looking forward to following the pandemic is hugging people. He says, “It's been a long time since anyone of us have had a good hug and I'm sure everyone can agree that we need one.” Dalton’s proudest moment was raising his GPA from a 2.9 to a 4.0 freshman year, something that took him entirely off guard when he was told about it. Dalton’s favorite poet is William Blake. He says, “What I love about Blake is that he is essentially at war with his own spirituality, sort of like I am.” Dalton’s favorite teachers are Mr. Kelly and Dr. Moore. He says, “I have never met any teachers who have had such a passion for the things they do and the things they teach as well as connecting with their students. It’s a blast to be learning under them and developing the true student-teacher bond that all education systems need to learn to develop.” Join us in cheering for Dalton and all the members of the Class of 2021!

ANGELA JONES

In addition to the information in the graphic, Angela tells us her proudest moment is coming back to school Freshman year after being home schooled. Jahdae says that all of his SHHS math teachers were great. His favorite teacher was Mr. Thomas; Jahdae looked forward to going to his class every day! ESTI GOLDSTEIN

In addition to the information in the graphic, Esti tells us that the favorite thing she did academically this year was her Extended Essay on three poems by Franny Choi, with Dr. Kelly as her advisor. It allowed her to explore her favorite poet's works in greater depth, while giving her the chance to have some equally enjoyable and enlightening conversations with Dr. Kelly. ADRIANE LAWES

Her proudest moment was when she earned her first national medal, a bronze in Olympic Sparring at the 2019 AAU Taekwondo National Championship. The class of 2021 had been doing a great job of raising money but COVID has made it very challenging. They have not given up but they do need our help to close the gap. While the plans are still being created, we know that we will not let this class graduate without a fantastic send off!
