Pacing Guide

The pacing guide below is a basic calendar showing the number of weeks I typically spend on each unit. The dates included are based upon the 2024-25 school year for Jenks High School.

I include different types of activities for each unit:

• Unit Introduction--We go through the CED description of the unit to preview what we will discuss for that unit

• Reading Quiz--A reading quiz for each chapter students read for that unit

• At least one hands-on group activity for each unit

• Lecture/Presentation of Concepts 3-6 times for each unit

• Practice FRQ for each unit

• Reviews for Unit Exam--AP Classroom and a Socratic Seminar (my favorite is a version of speed dating)

• Unit Exam--25 multiple choice questions and 1 FRQ (A-G)

• Group Unit Exam (extra credit)--the day after the exam, students retake the MC section; higher scores = more EC

• Optional: A movie, movie clips, or TV show episode(s)
