The Positive Action Center is open to the entire student body and led by a certified teacher.
The goals of the center are:
To ensure the safety of all students and staff in the school
To provide small group social and emotional learning expereinces for students.
To provide a safe and positive environment for students to de-escalate
To process with a student so behavior goals and expectations can be met and he or she can return to class
The center uses a variety of de-escalation techniques to help a student calm down and process. It is not punitive in nature. Instead, the Positive Action Center offers positive coping skills and anger management techniques. This allows each student to have a choice in what helps him or her make better decisions. The Center teaches life skills that students are encouraged to use every day.
