WELCOME!

We are the hidden gem on the East End!

Located in Eastern Jefferson County at the corner of Westport Road and Hurstbourne Parkway, Zachary Taylor Elementary serves a culturally diverse population of students and families. We have over 20 different native languages spoken by our students. Many of our staff are bilingual as well! We believe that this diversity is part of what makes us strong.

We believe our role as educators is to set our students up for success as they progress to middle school. Our mission is to build a strong foundation for ALL students to reach their full potential and ensure that high expectations for today's learning provide building blocks for lifelong learners.  We also offer a wide range of programs and supports to ensure this happens.

Our outstanding staff strives to provide the highest quality educational experience to each of our students. We offer a wide range of academic programs, including the Gifted and Talented and Advance Programs, EL Literacy and Illustrative Math curriculums.

In addition to these core programs we differentiate our instruction to meet a child's individual needs. We do this with small group literacy and math instruction and highly differentiated interventions and accelerations. We also provide after school activities such as tutoring, chess, dance team, basketball, robotics, STLP and Girls on the Run. Zachary Taylor also offers full-time PE, Arts and Humanities, Library and STEM classes.  All of these align with the district's Backpack of Success Pillars.

Zachary Taylor students and staff pledge daily to celebrate differences, treat everyone with kindness and respect and work hard. These characteristics are exemplified in goals to be RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, SAFE AND KIND! #2RSK

We also have a full time Guidance Counselor that leads monthly guidance lessons to all students and heads up our peer mediation program for conflict resolution\. We have a full time Mental Health Practitioner and full time Certified Behavior Interventionist that provide individual and small group social skills groups. These individuals, along with our Character Strong and Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS) approach to behavior support, work ensure we are educating the whole child. These also ensure that we are aligned with the JCPS  pillars of Racial Equity and Climate/Culture.
