AUDITIONS

Musical Theatre Audition Requirements

Applicants are evaluated on their acting, singing, and dancing abilities. Applicants are asked to prepare a short, one to two-minute contemporary or upbeat monologue and to sing a one to two-minute song from a Broadway-style musical, which will be accompanied by a staff pianist.  Your sheet music should be cut and arranged in the appropriate key. Applicants should come to the audition prepared to participate in a short movement evaluation. Auditionees will be asked to do a brief cold reading, to match pitch with the piano, take a short music notation quiz, and answer an open response question about their experience in musical theatre.  Please dress nicely and bring something to change into for your dance portion of your audition.  If you have them, jazz shoes are appropriate to wear.
