Academics

The Advance Program serves students who demonstrate exceptional academic talents. The Advance Program serves students in the fourth and fifth grade who are formally identified and participate in an enriched curriculum.

The Exceptional Child Education (ECE) Program serves students who have special needs in the area of learning disabilities, behavior, and other exceptionalities.

The Primary Talent Pool serves students who demonstrate exceptional academic talents.

Art offers ways for our children to express themselves. Every student participates in art each week. Students also have the opportunity to participate in Art Club as an extracurricular activity. 

Every St. Matthews Elementary student receives differentiated instruction to meet his or her needs in all of the core academic areas and several special areas. Our teachers provide relevant, comprehensive, quality instruction in order to educate, prepare, and inspire our students to learn. 

Music and Drama offer ways for our children to express themselves. Every student participates in a musical!  Check out our YouTube channel on the home page.

All students receive instruction in a foreign language.

One of our main goals is for children to learn to be active while having fun. Lessons are based on the PE/Practical Living Standards to ensure a well balanced program. This enables the students to learn knowledge and skills to live a healthy lifestyle in fitness, nutrition, safety, and general healthy living. 

Thanks to the hard work and generous donations of our PTA, St. Matthews is happy to say all classrooms are equipped with document cameras, audio enhancement and Smartboards.

Extended School Services (ESS) serve students who need additional academic support.
